Magen David Adom Victoria held its 65th Annual General Meeting at Beth Weizmann Community Centre,
where supporters and volunteers were presented with awards acknowledging their on-going committment
to MDA.
In presenting her report, MDA Victoria Co-President, Glynis Lipson, stated that while the past
year had been successful, more still needed to be done. The demand on MDA's services in Israel and
elsewhere in the world continued.

GLEN EIRA COUNCIL HONOURS MDA VOLUNTEERS - 16th May 2011
Two of Magen David Adom's "super-volunteers" have had their efforts acknowledged
in a ceremony conducted by Glen Eira City Council in Melbourne.
Sadie Stolar and Joe Saltzman were among those honoured. Sadie and Joe are among
MDA Victoria's most committed volunteers and on behalf of the Board, staff and
supporters of Magen David Adom - and the people of Israel, we say "Kol Hakavod".
Thank you for all your past efforts - volunteers, such as both of you, are Magen
David Adom's most valuable assets.

ISRAELI BUSHFIRES COMMUNITY UPDATE - 3rd FEBRUARY 2011
The speakers were emotionally moving and the venue was as unusual as it was
appropriate.
The audience, including numerous leaders of the Australian and Victorian
Jewish community, filled the meeting area of Melbourne's Fire Services Museum to hear
Uri Shacham (Magen David Adom Director-General's Bureau Chief) and Jemima Richards
(co-founder of Firefoxes Australia) speak about their experiences in the Carmel Region
and Victoria's Black Saturday bushfires respectively.
The entire evening was most ably MC'd by Federal parliamentarian Mark Dreyfus MP. Mark's ongoing
support of MDA and its lifesaving work is most appreciated.

A very moving video was also shown depicting Magen David Adom's international
humanitarian aid activities in the aftermath of the Haitian earthquakes. Uri, who featured
prominently in the video, admitted that it was the first time that he had seen it.
We thank Mr John Gandel AO and Mrs Pauline Gandel for their support and also the Fire Services
Museum for allowing us to use their most impressive venue.
Magen David Adom Victoria sincerely thanks the Pratt Foundation and its Executive Director,
Sam Lipski, for its sponsorship of this event and of Magen David Adom in Israel.
