1934–2021

Irena Nebenzahl lived with passion, independence, and an unwavering connection to Israel and her Jewish heritage. Born in Krakow in 1934 and arriving in Australia as a young child, Irena embraced life with style, curiosity, and courage.

She defied the expectations of her time—opening a hair salon, managing a clothing boutique, and working in travel—all while nurturing a deep love for culture, family, and tradition. A loyal friend and devoted grandmother, Irena was known for her elegance, generosity, and adventurous spirit. She travelled to over 250 countries and never lost her youthful energy or love of life.

Irena’s enduring legacy is one of strength, generosity, and connection. She will be remembered for her independence, her love of Israel, and her generous heart.

In keeping with her values, Irena left a significant gift in her Will to Magen David Adom, funding the purchase of a Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MICU) ambulance. Her legacy will live on with every life saved by the vehicle that bears her name.
